About the event

A screening of Jean Genets “most famous gay short in European History” as described by Tony Rayns which has evolved from a once

banned 1950 film into a potent metaphor about wider issues relating to the clash between desire and institutional authority. The event

includes a gallery talk by Peter Herbert with artists linked to selected artwork on display in LOUDEST WHISPERS and a panel discussion led by

Professor Pippa Catterall with experts linked to Genet and the theme of activism and social change.
