BACON‘S HISTORIES: Study for a Portrait directed by Martha Parsey is a motion picture artwork in 8 parts that explores the enigma of the artist through previously unpublished archive interviews with David Sylvester. Screening during London‘s LGBTQ+ history month the film presents a new feminist reading of the artist and a reevaluation of his standing as an openly gay artist in Soho of the 1950s. The film presents the only filmed interviews with Henrietta Moraes, his most frequently female subject and queen of Bohemia as well as looking at the influence of the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, the poetry of T.S.Eliot and Shakespeare through readings from Jeremy Irons, Sinéad Cusack, Alec Guinness, John Gielgud and Richard Burton.
